July 2009

Dear Loved One,

While undeniably grateful for the freedoms that we enjoy as Americans, as you and I prepare to observe Independence Day 2009, many precious people are living through a season that feels anything but free.

The economic pressure our nation is under right now has pushed people to the brink—companies have closed down and jobs are gone, homes are foreclosed and abandoned, and community food banks and shelters that once relied on gracious souls to donate are now finding those same people asking for help. And without the promises of God, the hope of a Savior, and the help of His Spirit—without the hope that assures each of us of life and a future—the Adversary, by fear, has been able to corner some into believing they are better off dead.

This Independence Day, I ask you to join me in honoring our spiritual freedom as well as our national freedom. As the Body of Christ, we have been uniquely equipped to serve as instruments of God’s promise to others, as well as intercessors like Elijah, who modeled prayer that brought forth provision for a nation in “drought.” Daily we see evidence of the “drought” in our culture, impacting millions whose hope for tomorrow has evaporated.

In my teaching, Prayer and the Climate of a Nation, I share in detail how you and I can change that, and I want you to have a DVD of it as my gift this month in thanks for your support to the ministry of $35 or more. I believe it is a teaching you will want to watch with others so that they too can become instruments and intercessors in this difficult season of our world. I’ve also written to you about Laying Hold of Tomorrow.

Let me encourage you, dear one, when you enjoy the fireworks on July 4th celebrating our nation’s freedom—won and preserved on bloody battlefields—that you also celebrate the spiritual freedom bought for you by the Savior at Calvary. And as you and your family watch the night sky light up in festive jubilation, let it be an occasion to take hold of one another, and of the promise and provision for tomorrow that God has already made for you.

Walking with you
in Christ, our Lord,

Pastor Jack
