What does the Bible say about adultery?

God gives clear guidelines for His church regarding marriage. One being, the husband loving his wife as Christ loved the church by laying His life down (Ephesians 5:25). This is a totally selfless and giving act. Adultery is a totally selfish, self-serving act. Galatians 5:19 calls it a "...work of the flesh...." In Proverbs 6:32 it is stated that the adulterer, "...lacks understanding ... and destroys his own soul."
