The Christmas Connection
Receiving
The Ultimate Gift
“For God so loved the world that He gave
His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish
but have everlasting life."
John 3:16
With the passage of centuries and the increase of
complexity in living, the story hasn’t changed: Man
needs God.
Sophisticated technology and sound advancement may
surround us, but inside we’re each the same: We need
God.
My honesty with my circumstances and the facts of
my pain and failures remind me:
I need God.
Thus...
Thus, this Christmas, The Church On The Way is celebrating
in the high joy of the season for one great reason: God
has come to us all!
“All things were made
by Him...and then He became flesh and lived among us.
In Christ we saw the Glory of God, full of grace
and truth.” (John 1:3-14). |
This small message is to help you to know how to receive
Him who has come to us—to receive Jesus Christ in to your
life just as simply and openly as millions before you have done.
“The Christmas Connection” is
when His gift is received—when the Giver (Him) and the Receiver
(me) come together:
-
I need His love...He loves me
as I am and where I am.
-
I need His forgiveness...He died
to pay the price of my sin.
-
I need His hope...He comes now
to give promise for tomorrow.
-
I need strength for life...He
will dwell in you by His Spirit's power.
-
I need to know the way...He is
the Way, and teaches us His way in His Word—
The Bible.
When my need and His Gift come together, Jesus’
purpose in coming is fulfilled:
“I have come that you might have life—life
to its fullest and overflowing”; and
“I have come to destroy the works of Satan
who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy.”
He offers life at its best and is able to help where life’s
at its worst. This Christmastime, as God's Holy Spirit draws you
toward His love, sincerely pray to receive His love:
Dear God,
I ask you to forgive me and receive me right now. I thank
you for the giving Your Son Jesus to us as a gift showing
Your love for me.
Because He died for my sin, and by rising from the dead
has proven His power to save me, I open my life to Him.
I welcome Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, as my Savior.
I receive Your promised gift of personal forgiveness and
eternal life. From this day, lead me in Your way. Please
fill me with Your power for living my life according to
Your will.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
